Julian Byamugisha quits Bolt Uganda for top Jumia job

Julian Byamugisha is no longer the country manager for Bolt Uganda.

She left the Estonian-based ride-hailing firm to join Jumia as a regional project manager, Jumia Services, SautiTech reported Thursday.

Her role involves overseeing the logistics and analytics department at the African online retail giant.

Julian Byamugisha left Bolt Uganda after getting a better offer at Jumia, the SautiTech report says.

She joined the online retailer in June 2019.

Byamugisha had worked with Bolt Uganda since December 2017.

She served the company in different positions, including Bolt Uganda city manager for Kampala, head of Taxify Uganda market and country manager.

This is the second time she is working with Jumia. She was working with the Ugandan unit of the company before being poached by Bolt, then called Taxify.

She also worked with Kaymu, which would later be acquired by Jumia Uganda.

Bolt Uganda is yet to replace Julian Byamugisha. Bolt’s Public Relations Lead for Africa Marilin Noorem told SautiTech that they’ll be announcing a replacement soon.

“We will appoint a new City Manager soon. Happy to keep you posted once we have details to share,” she said.
