African startups called to pitch Silicon Valley VC investors

African startups are eligible to apply for participation in the SoGal Global Pitch Competition.

Applications are open until August 31, implying you have less than half a month to apply.

The competition is organized in more than 25 cities around the world.

Before the final competition, which is held in Silicon Valley, regional contests are organized.

In Africa, they will be held in Lagos, Nairobi, and Johannesburg.

“The top teams selected from each regional round will join our final global pitch competition and bootcamp in Silicon Valley, for guaranteed face time with top VCs and angel investors, curated educational programming, unparalleled 1:1 mentorship, top tier press exposure, and a chance to win investment capital,” reads in part an official statement posted on Medium.

“Over half a million (and counting) investment dollars have already been allocated to the final competition from our friends at SoGal Ventures and Draper U.”

SoGal Global Pitch Competition is looking for ventures co-founded by women, people of color, immigrants, veterans, people with disabilities, and LGBTQIA.

To apply, a startup should be at a pre-Series A fundraising level, that is, it has raised less than $3 million.
