If you are a pre-Series A African startup and you want to raise anywhere from $250,000 to $5 million, you can submit your application to participate in the 2019 VC4A Venture Showcase – Series A.
This project is part of the Africa Early Stage Investor Summit to be held in Cape Town, South Africa from November 13-14.
According to organizers, applications will close on July 31. They are open only to innovative high-growth startups based in an African country.
Only 10 will be picked to compete at the 2019 VC4A Venture Showcase.
To compete, according to organizers, you have to be a for-profit company that is registered and already generating revenue.
The startup should also have an African co-founder.
Exceptions will be for startups that have “already received external investment, structured as either debt or equity, or received grants from donor organizations,” organizers say.
Timeline
From Aug. 1 and Sep. 15, judges will be selecting the best startups which will be announced on Sep 15.
Then from Sep 15 – Nov 10, the selected startups will begin working on presentations with mentors as they prepare for the 2019 VC4A Venture Showcase on Nov 14.
There will be an innovation tour on Nov 15.
The benefits of participating in this program include an all-expenses-paid trip to Cape Town on Nov 10-16, 2019.
You’ll also get an opportunity for a 3-minute pitch in front of 300+ investors at the Africa Early Stage Investor Summit.
